Updates on our Solar-FIT For Sunshine State petition: 163 signatures strong. We need more! Please help us to spread more sunshine by signing this petition and sharing it with others. It is our shared responsibility to move toward the renewable energy age and Sunshine is the cleanest, healthiest, and least war-prone way to go!

As we progress to the fourth episode of the “Pathway To #100% Renewables Is Not A Pipedream”, I want to share with you  the talk by #Angelina Galiteva, Founding Board Chair of Renewables 100 Policy Institute. In addition to founding the Renewables 100 Policy Institute, #Angelina M. Galiteva was appointed in 2011 by #Governor Jerry Brown to the #California Independent Systems Operator Board (CAISO). Angelina Galiteva shares with us the goals for California’s renewable energy future:

  1. Increase the overall #RE (renewable energy) content
  2. #Create jobs and new industries
  3. Improve the environment
  4. Mitigate #climate change
  5. Increase #energy security
  6. Support new technologies

She stresses the importance of impact of regulatory policy on the structure and success for renewable energy industries. #Regulatory policy is essentially divided into three broad groups of policy on a geographic level:

  1. Traditional regulation (#Mandated standards and #Public education)
  2. Carbon Pricing (#Carbon taxes and #Cap-and-trade)
  3. #Innovation Policy (#Knowledge management and #Adjustment assistance)

In assessing the potential success of policies, investors are looking for a policy framework that will provide transparency, longevity, certainty and consistency.  The policy is more likely to be successful if it addresses issues below:

  1. Enhancing returns
  2. Mitigating risk
  3. Addressing non-financial barriers (such as inter-connection)

It has been demonstrated that Feed-In-Tariff is the most effective policy so far. Please view the video below where Angelina Galiteva explains why Feed-In-Tariff has proven to be such an effective incentive policy for renewable energy:

This is one of the reasons that Sun Is The Future began early in 2011, to help  spread better understanding of Feed-In-Tariff for Renewable/Solar Energy, to start the petition “#Solar-FIT For Sunshine State”. Yes, #FIT (Feed-In-Tariff) is an incentive policy that has and will benefit  the consumers/people.  So, please join me in signing the petition above if you are a resident of Florida. Please start a petition for your state/province/country if you are not a resident of Florida and if Feed-In-Tariff for Renewable Energy is not yet established in your state/province/country.  With the FIT in place, the future of our planet will be much brighter. I will try to start a youtube channel specifically on #Feed-In-Tariff to help clarify some of your questions. Please feel free to email me any link for any video(s) on the topic of Feed-In-Tariff.

~have a bright and sunny day~
