DAVOS CONGRESS CENTRE INSTALLS PV SYSTEM OPTIMIZED WITH SOLAREDGETECHNOLOGY
Munich, Germany, January 21, 2014 – Just in time for the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting, Davos Congress Centre and swimming hall launches the first phase of its 340 kWp PV system which includes SolarEdge inverters and power optimizers. The PV system launch is particularly relevant to this year’s WEF meeting topic which will focus on developing insights for the international community to systematically address emerging challenges.
The Davos Congress Centre, one of the Alp’s most modern congress venues, identified SolarEdge products as next-generation PV technology. The module-based optimization and monitoring offered by SolarEdge provides the Davos Congress Centre increased system uptime, enhances energy yield assurance, and improves visibility into system performance. Not only was SolarEdge technology simulated to provide an increased energy yield of more than 12% with the initial design, but its module-level MPPT allowed a 10% increase in the amount of modules on the roof in the first phase, further improving energy yield. Specifically, the Davos Congress Center was able to place PV modules on the Atrium roof of the building, which would not have been possible with a traditional inverter.
“As a conference center that caters to large events such as the World Economic Forum annual meeting, the Davos Congress Centre prides itself on using the most advanced technologies and well-functioning infrastructure,” stated Mr. Urs Barandun, Project Manager for the Community of Davos. “The community has opted for this technology, because there are many advantages in terms of shading and fire protection.”
Installed by EES Jäggi Bigler AG from Etziken with the support of Amstein + Walthert AG Zurich, the first phase of the PV system is ~172 kWp and is located on the roof of the Davos Congress Centre and swimming hall building in Switzerland. The site includes 625SolarEdge power optimizers and 11 SE17k SolarEdge inverters. The fixed-string voltage in a SolarEdge system allows an increase in the number of modules per string of up to 54% compared to a traditional inverter.
About SolarEdge Technologies
SolarEdge Technologies provides end-to-end distributed solar power optimization and PV monitoring solutions, allowing maximum energy production for faster ROI. The SolarEdgepower optimizers perform MPPT per individual module while monitoring the performance of each module. The high efficiency SolarEdge inverter is tailor-made to work with power optimizers. Module-level electronics enable enhanced maintenance and increased system safety with the SafeDC™ mechanism. SolarEdge technology provides commercial PV systems with flexible design, increased system uptime, and decreased O&M costsSolarEdge is online at www.solaredge.com
